Clean up a MESS at Soggy Lake.

I received a Email from one of our members stating that: People are leaving huge bags of trash up against the port-a-potties at Soggy Dry Lake in Johnson Valley, the wind ripped the trash bags up, and there is now trash scattered all over the area, an area that used to be fairly clean despite the crowds. It is a shame to see the desert trashed with such disregard for the environment. The BLM (using Green Sticker funds) put in port-a-potties on the lake bed.
So I called Ray Pessa of Friends of Giant Rock (FoGR is a club member of CORVA).
Here is the report from Ray:
We need to educate fellow off-roaders about packing out their trash and to respect private property. Thanks Ray and Bob for taking this on.

This is due to off-roaders trespassing and infuriating some residents in San Bernardino County, the County recently passed Ordinance 3973 (Which will be re-visited in May of this year) and it is not OHV friendly.
A misconception produced by several news releases in is that staging means 10 or more vehicles at your private property requires a $155 permit. Not the case. The ordinance clearly states 10 or more PERSONS think about it. That means that 2 families camping together with 5 members each and the kids do not drive, because (their ages are 6mo.,1 year and 3 years old) and there are 2 motorcycles present, YOU NEED a STAGING PERMIT!
The ordinance was passed by means of the squeaky wheel syndrome it can be defeated by the same. Stay tuned with CORVA and Friends of Giant Rock for more info. And please spread the word on taking out the trash and policing our campsites.

Remember being Discourteous to Code Enforcement Officers will just guarantee a citation.
Ride safe, Packit-in-Packit-Out, Please Be courteous to land owners.
