Help Needed in Randsburg, Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving weekend is fast approaching and Kern County hosts thousands of OHV visitors camping in areas such as California City Jawbone, Dove Springs, Cuddleback and Spanglers to name a few.

Randsburg is the destination as families and OHVers alike find their way from the above mentioned camping sites. Randsburg is a live mining town with a Museum, Saloon, many antique shops, and much more.

Weather visiting Randsburg on Thanksgiving weekend or even off season, Friends of Jawbone and CORVA would like to stress Randsburg is a living breathing town with real residents.

The residents and businesses of Randsburg have openly welcomed the OHV community as long as we are courteous and respectful as we come  in and leave town.

We are also very grateful that we have our two OHV access routes R10 and R110 to the town thanks to the efforts of FOJ and CORVA members working with the towns people, BLM and Kern County.

Ed Waldhiem and others have put in many hours working with these folks, It only takes one guy racing out of town with loud pipe and riding on back wheel..... This behavior sets us back horribly with the residents.

All we are asking is to be courteous, respectful to the residents and use ONLY the two designated routes into and out of town if your vehicle is registered Green or Red sticker.

As long as we follow these simple guidelines, we will always be welcome to visit the town of Randsburg.

As Thanksgiving weekend approaches, Friends of Jawbone in conjunction  with CORVA is seeking volunteers to help direct traffic in the town of Randsburg.

Friends of Jawbone owns three vacant lots next to the White House Saloon. That is where we encourage OHV visitors to park. This leaves the main street open and to

not discourage other holiday visitors that may also want to visit the town and park.

We need volunteer help on the 23rd and 24th of November as these are the busiest days of the year.
